London Peace Week
The week of peace was launched in Haringey in September 2001 as a response to local community safety concerns. Thousands of local residents welcomed this initiative participating in a peace walk, peace concert, prayer walks around crime hotspots and lots of other activities in the borough. Celebrated in Haringey again in 2002 and 2003, the events attracted thousands of local people from diverse backgrounds to a range of activities such as school peace assemblies, sports events, faith and community based action.
On Saturday the 13th of September a special concert was held in the center of London. The concert was about peace. Ayi Jihu was asked to represent Asia in this historic and unique event. Being the first Chinese artist to be asked to this Ayi Jihu wanted to put on a special show for the people of London. A show that would not only represent Londons mixed cultures, music and styles, but also reflect on her Chinese roots.
The Ayi Jihu ‘London Week of Peace’ Performance was the highligt of a magical day for the audience and the artists involved. The show also featured: Concept, Fugitive, Opera singer Jane Zoo, Stevie Eagle E and the Hypnotick Dance Company in a non stop fusion of R&B, Rap, Hip Hop and Opera.

A 25-minute segment of the reality show “Asian Star 24,” depicting a day in the lives of Chinese R&B singer Ayi Jihu and British born Canto-pop star Barry Cox was shot over three days in Macau in August. The celebrities’
adventures were set at well known local sites including the Military Club, the Old Ladies House, Macau Tower, as well as nightclubs and casinos around town.
The stars were enthusiastic about the project. Sichuan-born singer Jihu said Macau was the perfect destination for the shooting because it is a bridge between east and west. Cox, who was born in Liverpool, England, said he hopes to bring his experiences from the west to the east and vice versa.
